Health Ministries
Health is mankind’s greatest value, sadly, we often don’t realize it until we lose it.
It is know that Seventh-day Adventists do not smoke, drink, consume harmful drugs, eat healthy foods, and care about their physical health. Thanks to these principles, they live healthier, longer lives.
Man is made up of physical, mental, spiritual and social dimensions. In order to have all these dimensions balanced, one needs to work in all these areas.
Faith and health go hand-in-hand
Can faith lead us towards better health?
Faith can noticeably improve quality of life. Faith helps people in
all areas of their life, physical, spiritual,
mental and social.
- By faith, man realizes that he is responsible to God for his body, and is to lead his life to reach his potential in improving life quality in all areas of life.
- In the physical domain, faith asks of mankind to take care of their own bodies since the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
- On a psychological level, faith provides growth and development of one’s spirit.
- On the social level, faith helps provide people with healthy relationships with one another. Faith teaches that all people are God’s creation, and as God’s beloved children, it asks of all to live by truth, and to live as brothers and sisters.
- On the spiritual level, faith is what overcomes this world. By faith we enter into God’s all-powerful domain which causes miracles in our lives
Important roles of health ministries are
- Teaching health reform to members of the church but also the wider social circle no matter of different faiths, or any other divisions, with a goal to promote healthy lifestyles.
- Provide understanding of various habits that factor into risks for various chronic sicknesses.
- Educating others about living healthy living: use of water, healthy eating, physical activity, abstaining from smoking and alcohol, controlling stress, preventing household abuse and so forth.
Missions for health ministries
- Providing up to date information and council on health and building healthy life habits.
- Holding seminars, and health stations using audio-visual materials, in order to promote good health amongst believers, and the wider social circle.
- Obtaining and distributing various materials and books for furthering education for believers.
